The central area of Fassa has kept all of its peace and natural surroundings from days gone by
The municipality of Mazzin di Fassa includes three small villages: Mazzin, Campestrin and Fontanazzo, which all together have less than 500 inhabitants. In fact, there are fewer hotels and other types of accommodation here than in the other municipalities of the valley and there are no ski lifts starting out directly from any of the three villages. This all serves to give Mazzin its title as the quietest municipality in the Fassa Valley. Its central position in the valley means that tourists who choose to stay there can easily reach all of the other towns and villages of Fassa.
Thus, in a few minutes it is possible to get to the lifts in the upper Fassa Valley, or those in Pozza di Fassa going up to the Buffaure Ski Area or to the Catinaccio Ski Area from Pera di Fassa. On this subject, we would like to remind you that there is a Skibus service linking all of the skiing areas in the valley. Mazzin is a great starting point for cross-country skiing. Suffice to say that the entire area is crossed by the route of the mythical Marcialonga. In the summer it is possible to set out on the hiking routes on Catinaccio-Antermoia from Mazzin, climbing along the wild and impervious Val Udai.
Worth mentioning is one of the oldest houses in the whole Val di Fassa: “Casa Battel” in Mazzin, which dates back to the 16th century.
