There are numerous mountain refuges waiting to welcome you in the Val di Fassa. These extremely important facilities are to be found more or less everywhere: in the easiest vales to reach, at the arrival of the uphill lifts at high altitudes and even on the most impervious and hidden peaks. Welcoming travellers into an alpine refuge restaurant or mountain refuge is the task of the manager, but it is also and above all, a great pleasure. The atmosphere you will find in the refuges is very particular: simplicity and cordial cheer. A familiar and essential environment that will immediately put you at your ease.

Therefore, in most refuges – especially the more distant ones – you will find food and shelter for the night. Sometimes you will be able to sleep in a real bed, at other times in a simple bunk. Often you can book your stay as if you were going to a hotel, even though it is usual to give little warning of your arrival. Refuges are usually not as comfortable as hotels; you won’t have a hydromassage tub at your disposal, you will have to make do with dormitories of varying sizes, sharing the same room with several people. This is because refuges were created to shelter travellers and hikers at high altitudes who cannot return to the town or village because they are too tired or because there is a storm or for many other reasons.
